Why?

No One Hit a Target, Which Was Not Previously Named

In other words, if you don’t have clear goals and don’t know what you’re looking for you will have trouble to find well matching employees. I know that sounds a bit harsh and simple. However, I believe that some companies are struggling to find good and matching employees, because they are not clear what they are looking for.

Just for you to know, I have been part of managements boards/teams for several companies before I became an entrepreneur and a contractor. In all my positions, I have done ecruiting for my clients to get employees for a certain positions.

Let us look at the cause, why I feel that some companies are not clear on what they are looking for.

Sometimes recruiting works like this:

“We are looking for “XYZ person” for project or “team XYZ”. Great, two years ago we had a similar position to offer. Let’s take the job advertisement we used then…..”

I get the point, a template is a good option, but an advertisement from two years ago used for a new employees search 🤔?. Twenty years, the office world didn’t turn around that quickly, maybe at that time it was worth looking at a former advertisement for a similar position. However nowadays things have changed and change fast.

So please ask yourself the question, whom are your looking for and get clear on the following bullet points:

5 Steps to Recruit Successfully

  1. Define the Project Objectives: Before you start looking for new team members, define the project objectives. What are the goals of your project? What are the timelines and budgets? What are the specific skills and experience required for the project? Are you clear on that? If yes, you’re ready, if not go back and clarify these points. You must be clear on what your project will be about to know who are you looking for.

  2. Look for Diversity: Projects require different skills and mindsets. Diversity is key to the success of any project. Look for team members with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. A diverse team can bring new ideas and innovative solutions to the table. A diverse team will improve the outcome and success of your project.

  3. Use Your Network: Reach out to colleagues, friends, and industry contacts to see if they know anyone who would be a good fit for the project. Post on social media targeting your industry!

  4. Conduct Interviews: Once you have a list of potential candidates, conduct interviews to learn more about their skills, experience, and work style. Interviews should be open, enabling also your candidate to ask question. Please avoid checklists and introduce your company and the people who are conducting the interview from your site first. Remember your candidate does not know who she/he is talking to. Don’t assume they have checked you out. Ask open-ended questions and give her/him a chance to showcase their expertise and what they think about certain topics. I personally love to have an easy conversation at the beginning.

  5. Use Online Platforms: There are several online platforms that can help you find the right people for your project. Freelance platforms like freelancer map, Upwork and Fiverr can connect you with talented freelancers from around the world. LinkedIn can help you find and connect with professionals in your industry. Using platforms like that can help you to target your potential employees easier.

Assembling the right team for your project requires careful planning, thoughtful consideration, and strategic hiring. Define your project objectives, look for diversity, use your network, conduct interviews, and use online platforms will support you to find the right people for your projects and set yourself up for success.

Let’s do it!
